Xaloch

The local name in Catalonia, Spain, for a warm, southeasterly wind blowing from the Mediterranean Sea. This wind is the regional manifestation of the sirocco, which originates over North Africa and gathers moisture as it crosses the sea. The xaloch brings humid, often hazy or dusty conditions and elevated temperatures to the Catalan coast and nearby areas.
