Absolute pressure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000009
The total pressure exerted on a surface, measured relative to a perfect vacuum (zero pressure). It is calculated by adding the gauge pressure, which is measured relative to the local atmospheric pressure, to the atmospheric pressure value. Reservoir pressure is an absolute pressure, while wellhead and pipeline pressures are often measured as gauge pressure.
