Bayesian inference
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000297
A statistical method that updates the probability for a hypothesis as more evidence or information becomes available. It combines prior knowledge or beliefs about a parameter with new data to produce a revised, or posterior, probability distribution. This approach is used in reservoir characterization to reduce uncertainty in subsurface models by integrating seismic data, well logs, and core analyses.
