Kurtosis
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002111
A statistical measure that describes the shape of the probability distribution of a dataset, specifically its peakedness or flatness relative to a normal distribution. In reservoir characterization, it can be used to analyze the distribution of reservoir properties like porosity or permeability. A high kurtosis indicates more extreme values or outliers.
