Poisson distribution
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002837
A discrete probability distribution that models the number of independent events occurring within a fixed interval of time or space, given a known average rate. It is applicable when events happen with a constant mean rate and independently of each other. In reservoir characterization, this distribution can be used to analyze the frequency of geological features or well failures.
