Polar
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002839
Describing a molecule that possesses a net electrical dipole moment due to the uneven distribution of electron density, resulting in partial positive and negative charges. Polar molecules, such as water, tend to dissolve other polar substances and are attracted to charged surfaces. This property influences the interaction of drilling fluids with formation clays.
