Drain hole

A wellbore drilled horizontally or at a high angle from a vertical or deviated well, designed to increase the reservoir contact and improve hydrocarbon recovery. This technique enhances production by exposing more of the pay zone to the wellbore. Drain holes are a common feature in extended-reach drilling and multilateral well designs.
