Drainage
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001166
The process where a non-wetting fluid displaces a wetting fluid from the pore spaces of a rock, such as oil or gas displacing water during primary migration or reservoir charging. This occurs when the capillary pressure of the non-wetting fluid exceeds that of the wetting fluid. Drainage is the opposite of imbibition.
