Porous plate technique
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002875
A laboratory method used to determine the capillary pressure characteristics of a rock sample. A saturated core plug is placed on a semi-permeable ceramic plate, and increasing gas pressure is applied to displace the wetting fluid. This technique yields a capillary pressure curve, which describes the relationship between fluid saturation and the pressure required to displace one fluid with another.
