Capillary number
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000534
A dimensionless ratio that compares viscous forces to capillary forces within a porous medium. It indicates the relative effectiveness of viscous forces in displacing a fluid past capillary resistance. In enhanced oil recovery, a higher capillary number generally signifies better displacement efficiency of oil by the injected fluid.
