Drainage area
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001167
The subsurface region from which a well produces hydrocarbons, encompassing the portion of the reservoir that contributes fluid flow to that specific wellbore. Its size and shape are influenced by reservoir characteristics, well spacing, and production rates. This area changes over time as reservoir pressure declines and fluid fronts advance.
