Drawworks

The primary hoisting mechanism on a drilling rig, consisting of a large drum around which the drilling line is spooled. It is powered by engines or electric motors and is responsible for raising and lowering the drill string, casing, and other heavy equipment in the wellbore. The drawworks also controls the weight on the drill bit during drilling operations.
