Drift
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001175
The angle by which a wellbore departs from vertical, measured in degrees from the vertical axis. In tubular work, drift also means the guaranteed minimum bore of a pipe, checked by pulling a cylinder of set diameter, called a drift mandrel or rabbit, through it. The drift diameter is slightly smaller than the nominal inside diameter, so it sets the largest tool that can pass.
