Casing swage
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000580
A tapered, cone-shaped steel tool driven down through a collapsed, dented or out-of-round section of casing to push it back toward its original internal diameter. It is run on the work string below a bumper jar, and the impact of the jar drives the nose through the damaged interval. Each successive run uses a swage about a quarter inch larger than the last, until the drift diameter is restored.
