Casing test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000581
A pressure test performed on a casing string after it has been cemented in place to verify its mechanical integrity and the seal of the cementing job. The test involves applying a predetermined pressure, usually with drilling fluid or water, and monitoring for any pressure decline over a specific period. A successful test confirms the casing can withstand the pressures expected during subsequent drilling or production operations, with test pressures specified by regulatory bodies.
