Drilling rig

A large, complex machine assembly used to bore wells into the earth's surface to extract oil, natural gas, or water. It includes a derrick, drawworks, power system, and mud system, all working together to rotate the drillstring and circulate drilling fluid. Rigs can be land-based or offshore, such as jack-ups or semi-submersibles.
