Footprint
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001528
The spatial pattern of seismic illumination or coverage on a subsurface target, determined by the acquisition geometry of sources and receivers. A seismic footprint can manifest as artifacts or variations in data quality due to uneven illumination or sampling. Careful survey design aims to minimize the footprint and achieve uniform coverage.
