Hydrocyclone
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001905
A mechanical device used in drilling fluid solids control systems to separate solid particles from the liquid phase based on differences in density and size. The fluid is pumped tangentially into a conical chamber, creating a centrifugal force that throws heavier solids to the outer wall and down to an underflow discharge. Hydrocyclones are effective for removing fine solids from drilling mud.
