Lock-up
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002209
The condition, in coiled tubing work, in which additional push at the surface no longer moves the string farther into a deviated or horizontal well, because the tubing is buckled into a helix, presses hard against the wall and friction absorbs the added force. The depth at which this occurs is the lockup depth, and it limits how far the tubing can reach. Larger-diameter, stiffer tubing locks up later.
