A Material Safety Data Sheet, a document providing detailed information about a hazardous substance, including its physical and chemical properties, health hazards, first-aid measures, and safe handling procedures. In the oil and gas industry, MSDS documents are mandatory for all chemicals used on a drilling rig or production site. They are now commonly referred to as Safety Data Sheets (SDS) under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).
