Hydrogen sulfide

A highly toxic and corrosive gas, chemical formula H2S, that can be encountered in oil and gas reservoirs. It is characterized by a rotten egg odor at low concentrations, but higher concentrations are odorless and rapidly fatal. Rigorous safety measures, including gas detection systems and breathing apparatus, are mandatory in H2S environments.
