Mud additive

Any chemical or material added to a drilling fluid to enhance its properties or achieve specific performance objectives. These additives can control viscosity, fluid loss, shale inhibition, lubricity, or corrosion. Common examples include barite for density, bentonite for viscosity, and polymers for fluid loss control.
