An acronym for the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, now known as the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) after merging with the Society for Protective Coatings. The organization develops and publishes technical standards for corrosion control and materials performance that are widely applied in the oil and gas industry for equipment design, operation, and maintenance. For example, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 specifies material requirements for sour service environments containing hydrogen sulfide.
