Pilot-operated regulator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002792
A type of pressure regulator where a small, auxiliary regulator, known as the pilot, controls the main valve's operation rather than the process fluid acting directly on the main valve's diaphragm. The pilot senses the downstream pressure and modulates a control pressure to the main valve's actuator, allowing for more accurate and stable control over a wider range of flow rates and pressures. These regulators are often used in high-pressure gas transmission and distribution systems.
