Pipeline patrol

The systematic inspection of a pipeline right-of-way to detect potential hazards, leaks, or unauthorized activities that could compromise pipeline integrity. This surveillance is conducted by ground vehicles, aircraft, or foot patrols, looking for signs of excavation, erosion, or vegetation encroachment. Regular pipeline patrols are mandated by regulations such as those from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) in the United States.
