Retort test

A laboratory procedure used to determine the oil, water, and gas content of a core sample or drill cuttings by heating the material in a closed vessel. The volatile components are vaporized, condensed, and collected for measurement. This test provides data on fluid saturations and is often used for oil shale analysis or to verify logging tool responses.
