Dean-Stark extraction

A laboratory method used to determine the water and oil content of core samples by distillation. The sample is heated in a solvent, and the vaporized water and solvent are condensed and collected in a calibrated tube. This technique provides accurate measurements of fluid saturations in reservoir rocks.
