Retort method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003139
A laboratory procedure used to determine the fluid content (oil, water, and gas) of core samples by heating them to high temperatures. The core is placed in a retort oven, and the vaporized fluids are condensed and collected in calibrated receivers. This method provides direct measurements of porosity and fluid saturations, particularly for shaly sands.
