Mud oven

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004387

A temperature-controlled heating device used in a drilling fluids laboratory to simulate downhole conditions for testing mud properties. Mud samples are placed in the oven, often after being pressurized in aging cells, to evaluate the effects of temperature on viscosity, fluid loss, and chemical stability over time. Standard test procedures specify temperatures and durations, such as heating for 16 hours at a temperature reflecting the bottomhole circulating temperature.
