Decibel
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000966
A logarithmic unit used to express the ratio of two values of a physical quantity, typically power or intensity. In seismic exploration, decibels quantify the amplitude of seismic signals, the attenuation of waves, and the dynamic range of recording equipment. A 20 decibel increase corresponds to a tenfold increase in amplitude.
