Dynamic range
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001229
The ratio of the largest to the smallest signal amplitude that a geophysical recording system can accurately measure without distortion. It is typically expressed in decibels (dB) and indicates the system's ability to capture both strong and weak signals. A high dynamic range is desirable in seismic acquisition to record the full spectrum of reflection amplitudes.
