Rockwell hardness testing

A method for measuring the hardness of materials by indenting them with a diamond cone or steel ball under a minor and then a major load. The difference in indentation depth between the two loads is converted into a Rockwell hardness number. This test is widely applied in the oil and gas industry for quality control of metallic components.
