Sonde
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003504
A long, slender instrument package lowered into a wellbore to acquire geophysical measurements of the surrounding rock formations. It contains sensors that detect properties such as resistivity, radioactivity, and acoustic velocity, transmitting data to the surface via a wireline cable. Sondes are designed to withstand high pressures and temperatures encountered downhole.
