Logging
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004376
The process of recording physical properties of rock formations versus depth, either as a well is being drilled or after it has reached a certain depth. This is accomplished by lowering specialized sensor tools, known as sondes, into the borehole on an electric wireline or as part of the drill string. The resulting record, a well log, provides data on properties like resistivity, density, and porosity.
