Spine and ribs plot
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004454
A crossplot of the long-spacing detector count rate, on a logarithmic axis, against the short-spacing detector count rate, used to compensate a gamma-gamma density tool for mudcake and standoff. The spine is the curve traced by tool readings in formations with no mudcake, and the ribs are lines leading off it that show how readings shift with mudcake thickness and density for a given formation density. The distance moved along a rib back to the spine gives the density correction, delta rho.
