Strapping tape

A calibrated steel measuring tape used to determine the external circumference of a storage tank at specific, predetermined heights. These circumference measurements, along with the tank height, are used in a process called tank strapping or calibration. The data is used to create detailed tank capacity tables that relate the fluid level to the volume of liquid contained within the tank.
