Field tape
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001392
A magnetic tape used to record raw seismic data directly from the acquisition system in the field. These tapes store the digitized seismic traces along with header information, such as shot point locations and receiver coordinates. Field tapes are the primary archival medium for raw seismic data before processing begins, though digital storage on hard drives is now more common.
