Well placement
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004140
The process of determining the optimal three-dimensional trajectory for a wellbore to maximize contact with productive reservoir zones while avoiding hazards. It involves integrating real-time drilling data with pre-drill geological and geophysical models to steer the bit. Geosteering techniques use measurements from logging-while-drilling tools to keep the well path within a target formation that can be only a few meters thick.
