Build platform

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000434

The flat, rigid surface inside a 3D printer upon which the first layer of a part is deposited and the object is subsequently built. The platform provides a stable foundation for the print and is a key factor in achieving good first-layer adhesion, which is necessary for a successful print. Build platforms are made from materials like glass, aluminum, or flexible steel and are often heated to a specific temperature, such as 60°C for PLA or 110°C for ABS.
