Continuous fiber
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000082
A single, unbroken strand of reinforcing material, such as carbon, glass, or aramid, embedded within a polymer matrix during the printing process. The fiber is co-extruded with the thermoplastic filament to create composite parts with significantly increased strength and stiffness along the fiber's path. Unlike chopped fibers, which are short and randomly oriented, continuous fibers provide directional reinforcement.
