d-Limonene
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000112
A citrus-scented solvent derived from the peels of oranges and other citrus fruits, used in some fused deposition modeling (FDM) applications. It serves as a dissolving agent for high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), a common support material that is printed alongside ABS plastic. After printing, the object is submerged in a d-Limonene bath, which dissolves the HIPS supports without affecting the primary ABS model, revealing complex geometries that would otherwise be impossible to produce.
