Hygroscopic
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000178
Describing a material that readily absorbs and retains moisture from the surrounding atmosphere. Many common 3D printing filaments, such as nylon, PETG, and PLA, are hygroscopic, and absorbed moisture can lead to printing issues like bubbling, poor layer adhesion, and weakened parts. Proper storage in dry environments or filament drying is necessary before printing.
