Residual stress

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000327

Internal stresses that remain within a material after it has been processed and all external forces have been removed. In additive manufacturing, these stresses often arise from non-uniform heating and cooling cycles during layer deposition, leading to part distortion or cracking. Managing residual stress is a key challenge in producing high-quality metal and polymer parts.
