Thermal stress

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000381

Internal stress within a material caused by temperature gradients or differences in thermal expansion and contraction. In additive manufacturing, rapid heating and cooling cycles during layer deposition can induce these stresses, potentially leading to warping, cracking, or delamination of the printed part. Managing thermal stress is a key consideration in process parameter development.
