Microstructure
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000234
The internal structure of a material at a microscopic level, including features such as grain size, grain boundaries, phases, and defects. In additive manufacturing, the rapid heating and cooling cycles significantly influence the resulting microstructure, which in turn dictates the mechanical properties of the printed part. This structure is typically observed using optical or electron microscopy.
