Valid solid model
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000403
A digital 3D representation of an object that is mathematically complete and unambiguous, with no gaps or self-intersecting surfaces. The model must be a fully enclosed volume, often described as being 'watertight' or 'manifold', meaning every edge is shared by exactly two faces. Slicing software requires a valid solid model to correctly generate the toolpaths for each layer of an additive manufacturing build.
