Aggregation error

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000337

A type of bias that arises when data collected at a lower, individual level are combined or averaged to make inferences about a higher, group level, leading to incorrect conclusions. This error occurs because relationships observed at one scale may not hold true at another scale. It is a common concern in ecological and epidemiological studies when analyzing population data.
