Average matrix relative sensitivity factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001024
A relative sensitivity factor (RSF) determined by averaging values from a set of different matrices or compounds containing the element of interest. This approach is used in quantitative surface analysis techniques like Auger electron spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy when a matrix-specific RSF is unavailable. The use of an average RSF provides a more generally applicable, though less accurate, quantification than assuming a factor of unity or using a value from a single, dissimilar matrix.
