Canonical variables

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001594

Linear combinations of the original variables in two sets of multivariate data, constructed to maximize the correlation between the two sets. These new variables, also known as canonical variates, represent the underlying relationships between the data sets. They are orthogonal within each set and are derived through canonical variate analysis.
