Canonical rate constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001592
A rate constant that describes the overall rate of a chemical reaction at a specific temperature, assuming a canonical ensemble where the system is in thermal equilibrium with a heat bath. It is obtained by averaging the microcanonical rate constants over all possible energies according to the Boltzmann distribution. This constant is typically used for macroscopic reaction rates.
